Gearing Up for RiverFest this Weekend

Sculptures, music, kayak & canoe races, cardboard boat races, face painting, children’s activities, environmental exhibitions, plein air painters, art & craft vendors, food trucks – RiverFest, Chestertown’s waterfront festival, will have something for everyone.

This 2nd annual celebration of art and the Chester River, which kicks off this coming Friday, September 23 at the Foot of High Street and continues through Saturday in Wilmer Park. It is a collaboration of Chestertown RiverArts, Washington College Center for Environment & Society, SANDBOX, Chestertown Arts & Entertainment District and a host of other participating organizations.

The fun begins Friday evening at 5:30 with the Illumination Ceremony & Sculpture Award, featuring food, beverage, and live music, followed by a street dance with Charlie the Peacock. Saturday the action moves to Wilmer Park for daylong festivities, followed by a Peacock Glow Party back at the Foot of High, from 7 – 10 pm.

Funding for this event includes ThinkBig, Chesapeake Bank & Trust, and the Kent County Arts Council.
