Haven Ministries is expanding its reach in Queen Anne’s County by opening a Resource Center at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church at 301 S. Liberty Street in Centreville, MD. The Resource Center will advance the missions of both Haven Ministries and St. Paul’s Church by offering a place of referral and case management services to residents of Queen Anne’s County who need information on financial counseling, job training, wellness, limited pastoral counseling and enrichment classes. The Center will also offer Haven Ministries office space.
According to Krista Pettit, Executive Director of Haven Ministries, “This enables our organization to be in two parts of Queen Anne’s County and to better work with our community partners to provide training and connections to our clients who are in need of a hand up.”
The Reverend Mary Garner, the rector at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and a board member of Haven Ministries, adds, “Our church is a perfect location to offer a Resource Center – within walking distance to the library, the post office, the laundromat, the Queen Anne’s County Health Department and County Ride.”
She adds, “This opportunity really spoke to me as I have already been working with a growing needy population in Centreville. This center will be an excellent place to provide referrals to them. We already have ALANON, AA, Food Anonymous meeting in our church in the evenings, so this is a great way to use our building during the day.”
The Resource Center will be located in a vacant classroom that was serving as a storage room in the basement of St. Paul’s Church. The Resource Center will open November 15, 2016 and will operate between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
