Nancy Mugele, Head of School announced that Melissa Haber has joined Kent School’s administrative team as the Director of Finance and Operations. Ms. Haber fills the position vacated by the retiring Business Manager, Don Sullivan. Melissa comes to Kent School from Indian Creek School in Crownsville, MD.
Mugele said, “We are fortunate to find a candidate as uniquely qualified as Melissa. In her time at Indian Creek she was the Associate Director of Finance and Operations and then the Director of Admissions. She is familiar with many facets of the daily operation of an independent school. She also brings working knowledge of school software systems that will help ensure a seamless transition.” In her role, Haber will manage the overall school budget, manage human resource processes, oversee facility maintenance and manage Kent School’s transportation program. Haber said, “I am very excited to become a part of the Kent School community. I felt a sense of welcome as soon as I stepped on the campus. I am eager to share my school and business experience and passion for education with everyone at Kent School.”
Ms. Haber received her B.S. in Business Management from The University of South Carolina. She earned her M.S. in Education from Johns Hopkins University with a focus in educational leadership, data-based decision making and organizational improvement. Mugele continued, “I know the entire Kent School community joins me in welcoming Melissa to Kent School. We both bring different independent school experiences to our positions and I look forward to collaborating with her to benefit every student, family and employee at Kent.”
