Talented local youngsters will entertain audiences of all ages in performances of Disney’s The Jungle Book, Kids and Bugsy Malone, Jr. at Church Hill Theatre from Thursday, July 21 through Sunday, July 24. For almost 20 years, Green Room Gang campers have honed their acting, singing and dancing skills to produce fully staged musical productions. Disney’s The Jungle Book, Kids is adapted for children from the classic Disney Film. Bugsy Malone, Jr., based on a 1976 movie favorite starring Scott Baio and Jodi Foster, is a rollicking spoof of 1920s gangster films with music by the composer of The Muppet Movie.
Becca Van Aken directs younger performers in Disney’s The Jungle Book, Kids and Liz Clarke directs the middle and high schoolers in Bugsy Malone, Jr. Interns Shannon Whitaker and Iz Clemens ably assisted the directors and Nina Sharp, previous GRG Instructor and Executive Manager of CHT, provided overall technical support. Many parents and other volunteers helped with costumes, sets, and props, making this annual show a real community effort.
Because last year’s shows were sold out, Church Hill Theatre has added a fourth 2016 performance. Shows will be on the evenings of Thursday, July 21 and Friday, July 22 at 7 pm and there will be matinee performances on Saturday, July 23 and Sunday, July 24 at 2 pm. Tickets are $10 for adults $5 for students; only cash or check will be accepted for this production. Reservations can be made by calling the box office at (410) 556-6033.
