The Retreat House at Hillsboro will host an outdoor concert on Saturday, June 18 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. featuring singer-songwriter Ginny Wilder of Wilmington, Delaware. The event is open to the public and will be held on the lawn behind the Retreat House. Guests are asked to bring chairs, blankets and food to dine alfresco.
“This is the first outdoor concert to be held at the Retreat House, hopefully the first of many, and we are thrilled to have Ginny with us,” said Francie Thayer, Retreat House Spiritual Director. “Ginny is a compassionate writer and singer and a wonderful entertainer. It will be a great night.”
Wilder, who has been writing music for over 30 years, will perform a mixture of song, stories, and humor. She has recorded six CD’s and her next CD, “All Clear,” is set for release this month. The concert is free of charge but donations will be accepted and used to help with CD production costs for “All Clear.” If it rains, the concert will be held in the adjacent St. Paul’s Church.
Ginny Wilder describes the songs on her new album as “Wilderness, doubt, questions, wonders, love, joy, death, pain- all the weavings of spiritual journey captured in verse and chorus, that is what these new songs sound like.”
Located on the grounds of historic St. Paul’s Church at 22005 Church Street, Hillsboro, Maryland, the Retreat House is open for group retreats and meetings, and individual hermitages, meditation and any who seek a spiritual connection. A traditional Chartres-style walking labyrinth is always open for walking and prayer. The Retreat House at Hillsboro is a ministry of the Diocese of Easton, MD.
