For the fourth year, Chestertown RiverArts and Community Mediation Upper Shore have joined together to produce “Art in Bloom,” a celebration of the art of floral design. This June 19 and 20, the RiverArts Galleries will be full of arrangements inspired by the artworks exhibited in RiverArts’ June Fine Arts exhibition, a juried and judged show.
Don’t necessarily expect a traditional bouquet- these displays are not restricted to flowers! Arrangers include Diane Blake, Sydney Brookes, Jessica Conley, Darla Downer, Cille Cumings, Margay Ferguson, Lydia Gerres, Hannelore Henry, Sandy Hudson and Amos Rudderrow.
On Sunday, June 19, from 4-6 p.m. all are invited to a Private Reception to view the floral arrangements and artwork while enjoying gourmet hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar.
A Fashion Show and Champagne Celebration will be held the following day, Monday, June 20, from 3-5 p.m. See the latest fashions from Houston’s Dockside Emporium, Mimi’s Closet and Houck’s Menswear over champagne and hors d’oeuvres.
Tickets to Sunday’s Art in Bloom Private Reception are $25; tickets to the Champagne Celebration and Fashion Show are $35. Both may be purchased in advance by calling RiverArts at 410-778-6300, at the RiverArts Galleries, or online at www.ChestertownRiverArts.org – click on events at the top of the page.
Proceeds from Art in Bloom go to support Community Mediation Upper Shore, whose mission is to provide accessible conflict resolution services through mediation, education and training for the folks of Kent, Queen Anne’s and Cecil Counties, and Chestertown RiverArts, a community arts center with a spectacular gallery and an extensive program of exhibitions, education and community outreach activities.
Gallery hours are Tuesday through Friday, 11 am – 4pm, Saturday 10 am to 4 pm. On First Fridays the gallery is open until 8pm. For more information, please visit www.ChestertownRiverArts.org or call 410 778 6300. RiverArts is located at 315 High Street, Suite 106, Chestertown, MD. 21620.
