While the proposed annexation resolution submitted to Town of Chestertown by representatives of KRM, a subsidiary of Dixon Valve, looked routine enough on Monday night’s Council meeting, it didn’t take long for Council Members and the general public to see how impactful this 80 acre plan might be if approved for the community.
KRM’s Kate Gray walked through the general elements of the plan, which would include both residential and commercial development along Route 213 just behind, and beyond ,the Washington Square shopping center. Warehouse buildings and an apartment complex would fill in empty lots if approved by both the Town Council and the Planning and Zoning Commission over the next month.
Mayor Chris Cerino seemed to speak for many when he noted that, “this is one of most exciting developments that we have on the table right now from the economic development standpoint.”
