Official Show Selections for CHT’s 2016 Green Room Gang Camp!

May 7, 2016 by Church Hill Theatre

Share

If you have children or grandchildren who want to spend their summer singing, dancing, and making life-long friends, look no further than Church Hill Theatre. Begun in 1999, CHT’s Green Room Gang summer theatre camp is a four to five-week program that culminates in two fully staged musicals adapted for young performers. Only two weeks remain in the open registration period for Green Room Gang, and the musicals have been selected! The 2016 GRG Junior camp will be producing The Jungle Book, Kids, and Senior campers will take on Bugsy Malone, Jr. for the camp’s final performances in July.

Screen Shot 2016-05-07 at 7.22.34 AMGRG Junior participants, youths entering grades 1 through 5, will dance to the beat of the jungle while they bring to the stage memorable characters from the classic Disney film The Jungle Book, with a script specifically written for kids! This camp is led by Becca Van Aken, long-time GRG instructor and full time teacher. GRG Jr. begins on Monday, June 27, 2016, and runs Mondays through Thursdays from 9 a.m. to Noon. Full tuition for the four-week Junior program is $330.00, with a 10% discount for CHT Members.

The GRG Senior Program, for young people entering grades 6 through 12, begins on Monday, June 20, 2016, and runs Mondays through Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Under the instruction of CHT veteran and staff member Liz Clarke, these young performers will travel back in time to the roaring twenties in Bugsy Malone, Jr., when “bad guy” gangsters were a force to be reckoned with! Full tuition for the five-week Senior program is $550.00, with a 10% discount for CHT Members. Scholarships are available for both Sr. and Jr. camps.

Serving Clarke and Van Aken as Technical Assistant will be Nina Sharp, previous Senior instructor for GRG and current Executive Manager of Church Hill Theatre. Returning GRG Intern Shannon Whitaker will be joined by Iz Clemens, both of whom have received extensive training in theatre at a college level and will assist both Directors throughout the camp.

The Jungle Book, Kids and Bugsy Malone, Jr. offer countless exciting roles for boys and girls, and whether your child is shy and has no experience on the stage, or they already have a flair for the dramatic, GRG is a welcoming learning environment for children of all ages and abilities! Final performances for GRG are Thursday and Friday, July 21 and 22 at 7:00 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday, July 23 and 24 at 2:00 p.m.

For applications and more information on GRG or any of CHT’s programs, call the Church Hill Theatre business office at 410-556-6003, or email us at [email protected]. Be sure to fill out applications soon—GRG fills up quickly! Applications are due no later than May 27, 2016. See you in the theatre!
