There is still time to register for the 15th Annual Mutt Strut, Saturday April 23, sponsored by the Humane Society of Kent County. This event is part of a three day weekend, including a private cocktail party on Friday and a 5K Run/Walk on Sunday.
The Humane Society of Kent County serves approximately 1,200 homeless, unwanted and abused animals each year. Mutt Strut is the shelter’s signature event and largest fundraising effort tailored to offset annual expenses related to medical and behavioral needs, giving each animal the best possible chance to be adopted into a safe, loving home. Community awareness and support is vital to the success of this mission
As is tradition, show off your best friend(s) in the dog parade, leaving the Kent County Courthouse at 10am, strut through Earth Day festivities and march into Center Circle at Wilmer Park to kick off the dog competitions, hosted by emcee Jen Friedman.
At Wilmer Park, enjoy delicious food from Papa Smurf, Black Burro, and Kilby Cream’s Moo Mobile. Local beers and Crow wine will be on offer as well. Listen to live music performed by Philip Dutton & the Alligators and the High & Wides, explore exhibitor tables, partake in games & raffles, and meet shelter animals ready for adoption. Children’s attractions include face painting, creative activities with KidSPOT, Character Counts, and the Kent County Public Library.
Register for an activity or learn more at www.kenthumane.com and click on news & upcoming events, or call HSKC Executive Director Jane Welsh at 410 778 3648.
