Mayor Chris Cerino started Monday’s Town Council meeting with a report of municipal affairs for 2015, The text,also known as a “State of the Town” address is a comprehensive report, read verbatim during the meeting, highlighting significant developments that took place during the year—and a busy year it was.
The ongoing hospital remediation plan to protect the town’s drinking water sources and an ambitious and complex marina redevelopment process were two themes that dominated the town’s attention in 2015 but did not distract from many accomplishments, including the creation of the arts and entertainment district with its own full-time manager, funding of Kent County Middle School Recreation Plan, Gateway Park construction, the purchase of property for the relocation of the police department and a new, cost saving solar plant, just to name a few.
