Recently elected Democratic Club of Kent County president, Bill Flook, and treasurer, David White, were welcomed at the annual holiday gathering at the home of Bob and Sandy Bjork. Outgoing president Jan Graham, was recognized for her commitment and leadership the past year. Officers are elected to two-year terms.
The holiday festivities included a collection of food and monetary donations for the Community Food Pantry. Twenty-two pounds of food and $155 in donations were delivered to the Food Pantry last week and presented to Miriam Greenlee, Program Director by Sandra Bjork.
Incoming president Bill Flook previously served as the president of the 33rd Democratic Club in Anne Arundel County for a number of years and has been the Kent County Club vice president this past year. Bill Flook, Ph.D., recently retired as supervisor in the Office of Psychological Services, Baltimore County Public Schools. He has been an educator for more than 40 years, and a psychologist for nearly that long. Flook also served as the state specialist for psychological services at the Maryland State Department of Education for four years. He teaches a seminar at the University of Maryland for doctoral internships. Bill and his wife Barb live on the East Fork of Langford Creek.
Incoming treasurer David White is Provost Emeritus of Lock Haven University and also served as the Dean of Arts & Sciences. White received a PhD in History from the University of Virginia and taught Middle Eastern and Indian history for 25 years at Appalachian State University in North Carolina where he held the I.G. Greer Chair in History before becoming a Dean and then Provost. He has held two Fulbright Fellowships and four Joseph Malone Fellowships, lived in India for three years and lived and traveled extensively throughout the Middle East, especially in Egypt, the West Bank, and Lebanon. David and his wife Mary live in Chestertown.
