Street dancing, Motown hits by Larry Tucker Band, Corvettes, classic cars floats and motorcycles gunning their engines in the parade, along with an evening of dancing in the streets, all made for a successful second annual Legacy Day celebration in Fountain Park and along High Street.
Hosted by D. J. Salisbury, with a tribute by Monica Graves—daughter of the illustrious Uptown Club owner Charlie Graves—the event celebrated Chestertown’s history of clubs, beer gardens, and the many talented musicians who played them, enriching the community with their soulful sounds.
Uptown Club, Sam Hoxter’s, Smitty’s, Chippy’s Inn, Calvin’s, Jazz Johnson, Blackettes, Highlanders, New Breed, Rotations, Black Soul were honored, along with many of the bands whose members who were present to accept a certificate of thanks given by the Historical Society of Kent County.
