The Garfield Center for the Arts is pleased to announce the return of singer-songwriter Beth McDonald on Saturday, March 21 at 8 PM. She will be accompanied by a stellar group of musicians: pianist/musical director and local favorite Joe Holt, guitarist Pres Harding, and bassist Jeff Davis, along with a couple of her “Women Helping Women” friends singing backup vocals. Listeners can expect an eclectic mix of classic and contemporary, jazz standards and popular songs, as well as her ‘new vintage’ originals.
McDonald’s style has been called, “sophisticated, somewhat timeless,” “ waxing nostalgic yet still freshly modern,” and as having, “an impeccable voice.” She recently moved away from the area, but continues to play on the Eastern Shore. This versatile singer has sung with pianist Joe Holt at a number of regional venues, fronted jazz bands, performed a tribute show to Peggy Lee, produced four albums, and a new single, “When the Water Falls.” McDonald says, “Music is a timeless form of expression. I don’t want to be boxed in to one genre or one decade in what I perform and write. I love it all, as long as it has both Melody and Meaning.”
Tickets for the show are $20, students with ID $5, and are available at the Garfield Center for the Arts at the Prince Theatre, 210 High St. in Chestertown, by phone 410 810 2060 or by going on line www.garfieldcenter.org and clicking on all events.
