On Sunday, February 22, at 3 pm, two Washington College faculty members will perform at the Kent Chamber Music concert series. Grace Kim, pianist and Daniel Shomper, Cellist, will perform a wonderful selection of music from Beethoven, Stravinsky and Shostakovich.
The concert will be held at Hotchkiss Hall, Gibson Center for the Arts at Washington College, 300 Washington Avenue, Chestertown, Maryland.
Pianist, Grace Kim’s playing has been praised by the Washington Post as “rich with emotional contrasts” and “hypnotic from the first note to the last note” by Die Rheinpfalz. She has performed as recitalist and chamber musician throughout the United States, Canada, Europe and Asia. Notable venues for her performances are Alice Tully Hall and Julliard Theater at the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, Kennedy Center and Steinway Hall.
Daniel Shomper, cellist, has been praised by the Baltimore Sun for his “virtuoso playing, masterful performance and lyrical expression.” He is a member of the Annapolis and Alexandria Symphony Orchestras and has performed with the National Philharmonic and Fairfax Symphony. In addition to his work as an orchestral performer, Daniel is an active chamber musician and recitalist and has performed at the Kennedy Center, the National Art Gallery and the Washington Arts Club.
Kim and Shomper will perform Stravinsky’s Suite Italienne for Cello and Piano, Beethoven’s Sonata No. 4 for Piano and Cello in C Major, Alfred Schnittke’s Musica Nostalgica, and Shostakovich’s Sonata for Cello and Piano in D minor.
