Once again, RiverArts is offering lots of opportunities for your children or grandchildren to learn about art and have fun at the same time!
RiverARTS Camp is a summer arts camp that offers campers the opportunity to explore different media and techniques. The syllabus is different for each week. In addition to creating art, campers will explore the town, local galleries, and artist studios and participate in cooperative and art-based games and activities to build camaraderie and art knowledge. Parents can choose between half-day and full-day sessions. See details below.
Instructor and program developer, Mary Ann Herron explains “In planning this year’s summer art camp, I want to offer some of the same themes campers enjoyed last year while also providing new selections to keep the experience fresh and inviting. Adding sculpture and eco art to the curriculum allows campers to explore new ideas, develop new strengths and interests as well as give them opportunities to focus on areas they may not get to explore as often in the school setting.”
Mary Ann has been teaching at Radcliffe Creek School for 18 years. Recently featured in What’s Up Eastern Shore Magazine, she currently teaches art to students in grades K-8. Mary Ann is interested in studio thinking, choice-based art, multicultural and museum education. In addition, she also serves as a lead instructor at Echo Hill Outdoor School’s summer Little Explorers program. Mary Ann has taught art classes in inner city Philadelphia, at Kent School and Horizons. She attended Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine, where she studied studio art with a focus on printmaking and drawing and has a Masters of Art in Teaching from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, PA.
