The public and people in recovery are invited every second month to Hope Fellowship Church in Chestertown for a meeting of inspiration, hope, music, and a sharing of testimonials.
Brian Abbot, an outreach coordinator at Hope Fellowship, and one of the founders of the “Nite of Hope” meetings, says that he wants to extend an open invitation to the community, especially those in recovery and their families.
“We started this program by inviting people from the Whitsitt Center and it has grown from there. Addiction is a serious disease affecting our community. I know of three people who have died from overdoses this last year alone,” he says.
The “Nite of Hope” faith-based recovery meetings have been attracting 60-80 people each meeting and Abbot hope to get the word out to the wider community.
The next “Nite of Hope” meeting is Friday, January 8 at 7:00 pm. A guest speaker will talk about the 12-Step approach to recovery and the meeting is open to everyone.
The Hope Fellowship Church is at 892 Washington Avenue, across from the movie theater.
