The North County Branch (Galena) of the Kent County Library will host a show of the photographic images of Kent County artist, Richard Hall, for the month of January 2015. The show will include: images of isolated farm and bayside houses; other landscapes. critters, domestic and wild; recent images from a sojourn to the Western US, architectural detail, and abstracted views of nature. Image presentations will include traditional black and white and color imagery and recolored and graphic representations. The works shown will span the period from 1994 to 2014.
Hall has shown widely in galleries and other venues in the region (MD, DE, DC and VA) most recently in December juried shows in Annapolis at the Circle Gallery of MFA and Washington, DC at the Foundry Gallery. He strives to create well-composed images with interesting values in light and color and hopefully with a “story” or mood. He tends to work in the outdoors with available light and when he finds himself indoors looks for views to the outside or indoor scenes lit through windows.
He has been an active volunteer, show organizer and curator with the Chestertown Arts League, Chester River Artworks and the new Chestertown RiverArts. Before retirement he was on the faculty of the University of Pittsburgh in Electrical and Computer Engineering with research interests in Image Processing and Digital Topology. His original research as a graduate student at Northwestern University was in the modeling of mammalian vision.
The show will run January 6 – 30 at the North County Branch of the Kent County Library in Galena, MD. An opening reception with the artist will be held on Thursday January 8 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Hall may be contacted at [email protected] or 410-928-5012.
