Auditions for Church Hill Theatre’s April production of David Lindsay-Abaire’s dark comedy “Good People” will be held on Saturday, January 17th from 10am-1pm, Monday, January 19th from 6-9pm, and Tuesday January 20th from 6-9pm. Director Michael Whitehill is seeking actors to audition for Church Hill Theatre’s production of David Lindsay-Abaire’s play in two acts, “Good People”.
The show will be performed at Church Hill Theatre, opening April 10th through the 26th – Friday and Saturday nights with Sunday matinees. This play tells the story of life in South Boston’s Lower End as told through the eyes of a woman and her friends who could not find a way out of there. This play brings characters so levelly drawn we never know what we think of them…that is to say, they are human in the truest sense. No artificial attempt is made to define them for you.
CHT welcomes actors of all ages, sizes, and levels of skill and experience. Mr. Whitehill will often cast a player with no experience if a genuine desire and the drive to learn reside there within. Audition always and often, even if you do not believe you are right for the part….that is not your decision! Ages may play up or down depending upon auditioning actor ranges. This play will be rehearsed and performed in the Boston dialect. Practice and naturalize your dialect, but if you do not have the Boston dialect, prove to me you can acquire one! We will teach it to you.
The cast of 6 of 4 women and 2 men has the following age range which is situational and flexible: Margaret (white, about 50), Dottie (white, mid-sixties), Jean (white, about fifty), Kate (African-American, early thirties), Stevie (white, late twenties), and Mike (white, about fifty). The play is set in South Boston’s Lower end and in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts.
