There’s no Christmas catastrophe shaping up for the daycare facility at the former Shared Opportunities Services (SOS) building at 601 High Street.
“The sale of the property closes out on January 9, 2015 and we have granted an automatic extension to June 30 for the daycare center and other businesses at that location,” says Town Manager Bill Ingersoll.
Ingersoll and Chestertown Police Chief Adrian Baker met with the businesses at the location on Wednesday to discuss ideas about future tenant compatibilities with the new police station presence.
“Searching for a right fit for the police station has been an ongoing process and we sympathize with the daycare issue and look forward to continuing a discussion with them about the future,” Ingersoll says.
The assessed value of the property is $1.2 million and the town’s purchase agreement is for $462,000.
