Can you remember that piece of furniture from Auntie’s estate that you have been hoping to restore or perhaps a fantastic find from the Crumpton Auction? Now is your chance to find out how to make it look special by taking a Painted Furniture Workshop with Brenda Foehrkolb. This workshop will be held Sunday, November 16, 1-6 p.m., located at KidSPOT, which is next door to the RiverArts Gallery at 315 High Street, Suite 104.
Brenda will guide you into transforming a small piece of furniture from “trash into treasure.” Little to no prep or sanding is required!! All paints and materials will be provided in class. Wear old clothes and bring a small item to make over – chair, small table, nightstand, etc. Brenda will help you give it a new life. The cost for members is $170 and $210 for nonmembers, registration deadline is Firday, November 14.
Introduction to iPhone Photography with Karen Klinedinst will also be held on Sunday, November 16, 1-5 p.m. in the Studio Gallery at RiverArts, Suite 106. More than just a snapshot device, the iPhone is a powerful tool for creating photographs and photo-based art. In this workshop students will learn camera techniques that are exclusive to the iPhone photography. Find out which apps are best for image capture, editing, and stylizing images. Study combinations of apps that transform your images into photo-based art.
The workshop pre-requisite is a working knowledge of your iPhone 4s or later. Please have the most recent IOS downloaded on your iPhone. A list of apps that we will be working with in the workshop can be downloaded from RiverArts website, www.chestertownriverarts.org. Please download these apps to your iPhone prior to the workshop. The cost of the workshop for members is $100 and for nonmembers $125.
Finishing Techniques for Knitters will be taught by master-knitter, Sue Wright, on Saturday, November 22, 9 a.m.-noon. It will be held at Sue’s studio in the Cannon Street Studios. Sue will offer tips and advice to help your knitted projects look handmade, not homemade! Advice on seaming, short-row shaping, buttonholes, and other useful techniques will give the student the skills needed to finish projects beautifully. The cost of the workshop is $80 for members and $90 for nonmembers.
