RiverArts announces that its Studio Tour Exhibition opens on October 3 on First Friday. Also, on October 1, RiverArts presents “The Real War: World War II Veterans Remember” exhibition. All October exhibitions are dedicated to Vince Raimond. More information below:

Vince Raimond, A Force for the Arts
Chestertown RiverArts is dedicating its October exhibitions in fond remembrance of Vince Raimond, who died Aug. 12, 2014. His presence is seen and felt in our “The Real War” Exhibition (see below), but it is also visible in almost everything and everyone who has been involved in the arts in Kent County for the past 60 years. We miss him terribly, as all who knew him do. Please join us to celebrate his memory and work to further his vision.

The Real War: WWII Veterans Remember
“The Real War: World War II Veterans Remember” exhibition, based on Washington College’s C.V. Starr Center for the Study of the American Experience’s StoryQuest oral history program, opens on Wednesday, October 1, at RiverArts with a reception from 6-8 p.m. Curated by Lani Seikaly and Shane Benz, the exhibition shares the images and interviews of veterans and families done by Starr Center students. Thirty-three veterans share their stories about the war and their service more than seventy years later. The Kent County Historical Society, a co-sponsor, will have the exhibition on display at the Bordley Center in later months. The exhibition will be displayed in RiverArts’ Studio Gallery through November 1.

Studio Tour Exhibition Opens First Friday, October 3
In 2000, Chestertown RiverArts, formerly known as Artworks, held its first annual studio tour. Twelve artists participated that year. Now, fifteen years later, there are sixty-one artists from a vibrant Kent County artists community who will open their studio doors for the Chestertown RiverArts Studio Tour, October 25 and 26 and November 1 and 2, 10 a.m.-5 p.m., rain or shine. For a sneak peek of the works of these artists, many of whom are known and recognized for their achievements throughout the art world, RiverArts will host an exhibition of their works throughout the month of October. Featured are paintings, pottery, prints, photographs, sculpture, jewelry, textiles, metal, glass and wood art, and hand-made furniture. Meet the artists and get a jump start on planning your personal tour at the opening reception, Friday, October 3 from 5-8 p.m.
