On Saturday, September 13, Maya Davis, research archivist at the Maryland State Archives, will present “Researching Kent County African-American Slave Ancestors” at the Chestertown Branch of Kent County Public Library.
This program will focus on conducting genealogical research for those seeking to fill in 19th-century African-American family trees. Using examples from the records of the Maryland State Archives, Ms. Davis will offer tips on overcoming brick walls that may be encountered while searching for enslaved ancestors in Kent County, Maryland. Participants will take away information about genealogy resources available through Kent County Public Library, the Historical Society of Kent County, and the Maryland State Archives.
All members of the community are welcome to attend this free program.
