Quiet Fire Plays Legacy Day This Saturday

August 14, 2014 by Spy Desk

Share

Quiet Fire is a soul, R&B, & rock band that covers the hits from the ’60s to ’80s of groups such as the Supremes, the Jackson 5, James Brown, and Aretha Franklin. The concert is part of the Legacy Day celebration & remembrance of Charlie Graves’ Uptown Club. Note that the stage will be on High Street near the Garfield/Prince Theatre rather than the usual location in the park. Come early and see the Legacy Day parade which will start at 6:00 pm at Garnett Middle School and march down High Street to the Prince Theatre.  Tables and chairs will be set up outside the theater with food vendors and a cash bar serving beer and wine.  So come for dinner – the fish sandwiches are fantastic! – and stay for the music!  There will be a dance contest with cash prizes, so wear your dancing shoes!  The DJ will play oldies from 5:00 until about 6:30 when the parade arrives.  The Calvert Community Youth Choir under the direction of Ellsworth Tolliver will open the live music portion of the evening.

The Quiet Fire Soul Show will start at 7:00 pm. This special concert will run from 7:00–10:00 pm with the DJ spinning platters during the band breaks.   For more band info see www.quietfiremusic.com.
