Maryland Arts Council Grants Boost Kent Arts

Governor Martin O’Malley today announced $13.4 million in Maryland Arts Council (MSAC) grant awards to 287 local arts organizations and arts councils, reaffirming the importance of Maryland’s vibrant nonprofit arts sector as a resource to residents and visitors statewide.

Kent County received the following:

Chester River Chorale, Inc. Music $5,031
Chestertown Arts League dba Chestertown RiverArts Visual Arts/Media $2,000
Mainstay, The Music $10,372
Maryland Council for Dance, Inc. Arts Service $1,650
Prince Theatre Foundation Multi-Discipline $16,776
Washington College Concert Series Music $2,000
Total Grants for Organizations $37,829
Community Arts Development Grant to Kent County Arts Council $94,920
County Total $132,749

Jeff Woodbridge, Artistic Program Director at the Garfield Center for the Arts was elated.  “It’s fantastic, We’re thrilled and it will help us beef up our schedule of GAC productions next year,” Woodbridge said.
