At  7 p.m., July 4, Dylan C. Thompson, 18, of Chestertown, and Devron Lamont Hynson, 19, of Rock Hall, were arrested at Colonial Manner Apartments in Chestertown for malicious destruction of property. Police responded to a call about two men attempting to break in to the change machine at the on-premises laundromat.

Also, at approximately 9 p.m., Chestertown Police arrested Heather Dianne Thompson, 36, of Chestertown, charging her with burglary third-degree, theft, malicious destruction of property, burglary fourth degree. Thompson’s charges stem from stolen property recovered by police. Heather Thompson is Dylan Thompson’s mother.

In addition, a criminal summons was issued on July 5 for Brittany Nicolette Powell, 19, of Chestertown, for Theft.

Dylan Thompson was released on his own recognizance and Devron Hynson was held on $6,000 bond. Heather Thompson is currently being held at the Kent County Detention Center on $10,000 bond.

“We’re continuing to investigate evidence and information related to these cases and the possible relationship to the recent rash of local burglaries, “ Chestertown Police Chief Baker says.

Chief Baker encourages the community to continue safeguarding their homes and cars by locking doors and garages and reviewing their exterior lighting systems. Motion detector lights, among other safety considerations can be an effective way of discouraging burglars.
