One of the leading ladies in today’s blues circuit, Debbie Davies, will bring her blues band to the Garfield Center for the Performing Arts on Friday, July 11 at 8 pm. The concert is the third in a series of six shows sponsored by the Eastern Shore Blues Society.
Davies, a two-time award winner for Best Contemporary Female Blues Artist, was part of the blues scene in LA and San Francisco in the ‘80s, played with Maggie Mayall‘s band, (wife of blues giant John Mayall), and toured for three years as lead guitarist with blues icon Albert Collins. She is known not only for her killer guitar, but also her vocal chops. She has teamed up with numerous blues legends as a side”man” in recordings and tours; guest musicans on her eleven albums include Coco Montoya, Charlie Musselwhite, Ike Turner, James Cotton, and Mick Taylor, among others. Expect to hear a house – rocking performance featuring stinging Telecaster riffs, witty lyrics and blues grooves.
Debbie Davies videos and more information on the July 11th show are available on the Garfield Center website, www.GarfieldCenter.org. Tickets are $25, or $20for students, payable on line or by calling the box office at 410 810 2060.
