This year, RiverArts is offering lots of opportunities for your children or grandchildren to learn about art and have fun at the same time!
riverARTScamp is a summer arts camp that offers campers ages 6-13 the opportunity to explore different media and techniques. Located right on High Street, in RiverArts KidSPOT, (315 High Street, Suite 104, Chestertown), getting there is easy. Campers will focus on projects related to a specific theme each week using various mediums including painting, drawing, sculpture, printmaking, fibers, and collage.
Week 1, July 7-11, is Fantastic Fiber. Campers will work with fiber as their medium. Create three-dimensional art from yarn and other natural materials. Weave, paint, dye, decorate and use stitches to turn fabrics into your own compositions. During Week 2, July 14-18, campers will explore Different Strokes. Drawing and painting skills will be the focus for this week. Campers will work with pencil, marker, pastels, colored pencils and acrylic paint. On Week 3, July 21-25, campers will discover Printmaking Power, creating monotypes and relief printing. Campers will work with traditional and innovative hand printing techniques. The final week of camp, Week 4, July 28-August 1, campers will Mix It Up. Artwork can be created from a variety of media. Campers will learn how to combine different media and techniques to create variety, unity, and texture within a composition.
