Mr. Gary Jackoway will give a sermon entitled “Leonard Cohen’s ‘Hallelujah’” to the Unitarian Universalists of the Chester River in Chestertown, Sunday March 30 at 10am.
Many of us are familiar with this classic song by the composer Leonard Cohen. Its complex lyrics and history are complete with biblical and social references that have intrigued us over the years. Gary Joackoway will explore this familiar anthem that references the lives we lead and how we give them meaning. (“There’s a blaze of light in every work, It doesn’t matter what you heard, The holy or the broken Hallelujah.”)
Philip Dutton will be with us to perform “Hallelujah” as a prelude to the sermon. It will put the sermon in context and add to this special service.
Religious education for youngsters, as well as infant and toddler care, will be provided during our service. All are welcome. Please call for more information at 410-778-3440 or email [email protected].
