Chili lovers, mark your calendars! The Third Annual Chili Cook-off for the Humane Society of Kent County will be held on Sunday, March 23, from 1 to 3 pm, at Crow Vineyard & Winery in Kennedyville. Competition is tough this year with participation from the following restaurants: O’Connor’s Pub, Fish Whistle, Galena’s Kitchen, Imperial Hotel, Herb’s Soup & Such, Uncle Charlie’s Bistro, and Crow Vineyard & Winery featuring Chef Robbie Jester. Admission and chili sampling is free; in addition, bowls of chili, wine and soft drinks will be sold.
Chefs are encouraged to be creative in preparing their recipes using grass fed Angus Beef generously donated by Crow Farm, show some competitive spirit and support a worthy cause. Guests are invited to vote for the best chili by donating money to the Humane Society in designated container for each contestant. A plaque will be presented to the chili that garners the largest donation.
This weekend is back-to-back with Crow Vineyard & Winery events that support the Humane Society of Kent County. Saturday March 22 kicks off from 1 to 3 pm with a birthday party for Myrtle and Babe, Crow Farm’s yellow labs, who ask that guest bring a donation of food or funds to the Humane Society in lieu of gifts for them. There will be sample tastings of Crow Angus Beef and wine tasting of selected Crow Vineyard wines. Additional wine can be purchased by the glass or bottle. The Humane Society will host a silent auction on Saturday that will carry over to Sunday’s Chili Cook Off. Proceeds from chili sales and auction will benefit the Humane Society of Kent County.
