KCHS Spring Musical, Dates Announced

February 22, 2014 by Kent County Public Schools

Share

KCHS Drama Club, ITS Troupe #7153, and the KCHS Brigade of Blue Band proudly present, “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee,” a 90 minute one act musical comedy conceived by Rebecca Feldman with music and lyrics by William Finn, a book by Rachel Sheinkin, and additional material by Jay Reiss.

The show centers on a fictional spelling bee set in geographically ambiguous Putnam Valley Middle School. Six quirky adolescents compete in the Bee, run by three equally-quirky grown-ups. An unusual aspect of the show is that four real audience members are invited on stage to compete in the spelling bee alongside the six young characters.

“The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee,” directed by Mrs. Melissa Walters, will appear in the Kent County High School Auditorium on February 27 @ 10 am for $5 general admission, and February 28 @ 7pm, March 1 @ 7pm, and March 2 @ 2pm for $10 general admission.

The production features a cast of talented students, vocal coaching by Ms. Sarah Ratajczak, stage crew led by Mrs. Cheryl Bachmann, and a pit band conducted by Dr. Keith Wharton.

The cast includes (in order of appearance): Ashley Lawton, Peyton Chance, Jake Smith, Cara Wood, Ashton Mooday-Walsh, Thomas Price, Abigail Thomas, Mitch Stead, and Patrick Lindsay.

Tickets are available prior to performances. Reservations can be made by phone (410.778.4540), or by email ([email protected]). To request seating, call 410.778.4540.
