Classical Guitarist Young Jun Lim at the Mainstay, February 9

Young Jun Lim - webClassical guitarist Young Jun Lim brings Bach, Aguado, Sor and more to the Mainstay in Rock Hall, Maryland on Sunday February 9 at 4:00 pm in a concert that is part of the Mainstay’s Hedgelawn Classical Music series.

Admission is $15. For information and reservations call 410-639-9133. Information is also available at the Mainstay’s website https://www.mainstayrockhall.org.

The Mainstay and the Hedgelawn Foundation present a program of Bach, Sor, Aguado, Rodrigo and Mangore from Young Jun Lim who is a sophomore at Peabody Institute of Music. He is pursuing his bachelor in Classical Guitar Performance studying under Julian Gray and has been awarded the Charlie Byrd Memorial Endowed Scholarship in Guitar.

Lim was the Grand prize winner in the 6th Annual Beatty Music Scholarship Competition for Classical Guitar in 2012 after placing first in the junior and senior divisions of that competition. He also placed first for 4 consecutive years in the Aguado Guitar Competition.

Raised in Northern Virginia, he received award for Excellence in Art from the National Society of Arts and Letters and has performed multiple times at the Kennedy Center with a chamber group and solo.

Lim’s program will include Violin Sonata no.1 by J.S Bach , Theme and Variations on Mozart by Fernando Sor, Andante et Rondo No2 by Dionisio Aguado, Invocacion y Danza by Joaquin Rodrigo and El Ultimo Cancion by Agustin Barrios Mangore.

The Mainstay (Home of Musical Magic) is the friendly informal storefront performing arts center on Rock Hall’s old time Main Street. It is a 501(c)(3), non profit dedicated to the arts, serving Rock Hall, MD and the surrounding region. It is committed to presenting local, regional and national level talent, at a reasonable price, in an almost perfect acoustic setting. Wine, beer, sodas and snacks are available at the bar.

The Mainstay is supported by ticket sales, fundraising including donations from friends and audience members and an operating grant from the Maryland State Arts Council.
