On Sunday, November 24, 10 AM, Rev. Greg Chute will give a sermon entitled “Making Holidays into Holy Days” for the Unitarian Universalists of the Chester River, 914 Gateway Dr., Chestertown. Too often in our secularized society a holiday become nothing more than a day off from work; or out of school; or a cluttered time of hectic obligations. Many holidays however, for instance Thanksgiving and Christmas, have more religious origins. They are days set apart with intention to capture our attention and invite our reflection. So even if we do not consider ourselves religious, our spiritual selves can still benefit from a time away from ordinary time. Rev. Chute will share some intriguing ideas on how to re-sanctify our Holy Days.
