University of Maryland Chester River Home Care & Hospice, a member of University of Maryland Shore Regional Health, hosted its second annual “Chester River Crab Chase,” a 5K Run/Walk and all-you-can-eat crab feast, on Saturday, September 28 in Wilmer Park in Chestertown. All of the proceeds from this year’s Crab Chase, which netted $12,000, will help fund the local community hospice services it provides in Kent and Queen Anne’s Counties.
140 racers participated in the 5K Run/Walk which was routed through Chestertown and along the Chester River. Later in the day, 103 guests enjoyed the all-you-can-eat crab feast, eating a total of 12 bushels of crabs from Chester River Seafood in Rock Hall. Additionally, 250 ears of corn were consumed, compliments of Nagel Farm Service, Inc., along with other menu items including BBQ chicken, cole slaw, macaroni salad and desserts, which were provided by the staff of UM Chester River Home Care & Hospice.
