As someone who walks in downtown Chestertown and, by necessity, must travel to the local shopping centers, I am dismayed by the amount of trash in parking lots, on sidewalks and on our streets. Some citizens appear to believe it is good form to dispose of their “fast food” wrappers, their soda bottles, and some their beer containers on the public, or in the case of the shopping centers and other parking lots, private pavements.
Some , but sadly not all, shopkeepers do an excellent job of sweeping the sidewalk by their establishment each day, and some citizens show their pride in the community by picking up the debris cast off by others.
Can we all not take greater pride in our community and work to eliminate the unsightly mess by using the trash and recycle bins provided by the Town of Chestertown.
The women of Curb Appeal have been outstanding examples of those eager to make improvement to our community. Let’s all try to do out little bit too.
Respectfully,
Edward E. Maxcy
Chestertown
