Mike Rooney, nationally known North Carolina artist and art instructor, will be teaching two workshops at RiverArts in September — an evening Paint Along on Tuesday, September 17 and a two day Workshop in Oils and Acrylics for the Serious Beginner on September 18 and 19. Mike, who was featured on the “Art” cover of Cape Cod Life 2012, teaches painting classes up and down the east coast. He loves to capture the colors and nuances of the coastal subjects which abound on the Eastern Shore.
Painting primarily in oil, Rooney’s subject matter varies, but he loves to show the effect of light on water, boats, and the beach environment from the salt marshes of Cape Cod and rugged coast of Maine, to the mangroves and turquoise waters of Key West. His methodology is varied and he never follows a set way of starting a painting. He has also filmed several how-to dvd’s . He is represented in galleries in several states and collected overseas.
Those who attended his workshops last year gave him high marks and reported having a great time. You can learn more about Mike, his art and workshops at [email protected].
If you are interested in attending either of these workshops, please go to the ‘classes’ section at chestertownriverarts.org to register.
