Barack Obama’s effective use of technology was an important factor in his 2012 election victory. Peter Metcalf will describe how technology is used in election campaigns at the Kent CBG meeting on Thursday, August 29.
The CBG meets for breakfast every Thursday at 7:30AM at the Holiday Inn Express in Chestertown.
The constant improvement of communication technology has had an increasing impact on our lives. Political campaigns are an important application of this technology. Print media, radio, TV, direct mail, email, social media, focus groups, door to door campaigns and get out the vote campaigns are all affected by improving communication technology.
We will discuss how these changes have changed election campaigns, how Obama’s tech team used this new technology and how we, at the local level, can best use this technology to help influence the outcome of future elections.
