The United Way of Kent County is delighted to welcome two new Directors, Carol Droge and George Best, Jr.Ms. Droge brings her longtime non-profit experience most recently from Shared Opportunity Service, Inc.where she was a Life Skills Educator until her retirement as Director in January 2013. She has agreed to be the Board’s new Secretary. Carol is a Delaware native and a graduate of the University of Delaware in American Studies. Since her retirement in 2006 she has volunteered widely and served on the boards of several area charities and currently serves as the President of Samaritan Group, Inc. in Chestertown.
Mr. Best is Kent County born and raised. He is an alumnus of Kent County High School and attended Washington College on the Chestertown Mayor’s Scholarship, graduating in 2006 with a degree in Business Administration; he was the recipient of the Clark-Porter Medal for the student who most clearly enhances the quality of campus life. He is currently employed at Dixon Valve. Volunteer service has always been a passion for George, and he is a Character Counts! coach in the County. He brings his considerable experience with the internet and social media and will help United Way shape a greater presence in cyberspace.
The United Way of Kent County is excited to accept these two fine citizens to its Board of Directors and looks forward to working with then in the upcoming Annual Fundraising Campaign this fall.
