The Spitfire Grill, an American musical play with music and book by James Valcq and lyrics and book by Fred Allen, depicts the journey of a young woman just released from prison who decides to start her life anew in a rural Wisconsin town. Her growing confidence encourages a new spirit in the town itself. The stirring and heartfelt music is a mixture of country, bluegrass and Broadway style pop ballads. Shelagh Grasso will direct the production, with Julie Lawrence as musical director. The play will run for nine performances on weekends from Friday, September 20, through Sunday, October 6, 2013.
Auditions will be held on the Church Hill Theatre stage on Saturday, June 29, from 1-4 pm and on Sunday, June 30, from 6-8 pm. If required, call backs will be held on Tuesday, July 2, from 6-8 pm. Actors should come with a prepared song (about 32 measures, with music for the accompanist) from a Broadway musical and be prepared for cold readings from the script. For more information, contact Shelagh Grasso at 410-778-4711 or email her at [email protected]
