Kent County Public Library is pleased to announce a First Friday art reception for Everything Botanical, an exhibition featuring the art work of Frances Phaneuf and members of her Heron Point Illustration Class: Lynne Donahue, Barbara Ellis, and Joan Strand. Botanical painting, one of the most popular art forms, is a centuries-old fusion of science and art. Its rich tradition communicates the importance of plants to our world whether through conservation, science, horticulture or agriculture. The history of botanical art and its tradition is being continued by contemporary artists, including the four women whose artwork will be on display at KCPL during the month of April.
KCPL is also delighted to have an April exhibit of artwork created by students from Kent County Middle School. The work of these talented young artists will be on display in the Children’s Department.
The public is invited to visit KCPL’s Chestertown branch between 5 pm and 8 pm on Friday, April 5, 2013 to enjoy the artwork, meet the artists, and engage with others who support and celebrate the arts in Kent County. Convenient parking is available, family-friendly refreshments will be served, and all are welcome to attend this free community event.
All artwork showcased at the First Friday reception will remain on display at KCPL’s Chestertown branch during the month of April.
For more information about this event or to learn how to apply to be a featured First Friday artist at KCPL, please call 410.778.3636 or visit the Chestertown Branch at 408 High Street, Chestertown.
