The Franklin P. Perdue School of Business at Salisbury University has expanded their Entrepreneurship Competition to include 3 competitions in one day on Friday, April 19, 2013.
Salisbury University students have a chance to win prize money and business start-up awards to fund a business venture they dream of launching. Small Business Development Center (SBDC) is hosting the “Invest in my Idea” Poster Competition in which students will have the opportunity to present their business ideas in a poster style format.
Select members of the Salisbury Community and faculty will have the opportunity to invest in an entrant’s idea. Awards and prizes will be given to those ideas that receive the greatest investments. There will be 15 winners that move on to the next round. Also new in 2013 is the “Gull Cage,” a Shark Tank Competition where students will pitch their ideas to judges for prizes and awards and possibly an investment in their idea.
This round of the competition includes cash awards for the top 4 who will then move on to the final competition.
The final round is The Richard Bernstein Achievement Award for Excellence “Business Plan Competition.” Competitors must create an original proposal for a business start-up or for the transformation of an existing business. The plan should have a maximum of ten pages, and the competition will allow a ten minute presentation, a ten minute question and answer with the judges and ten minute private coaching/feedback session. The creator of the winning business plan receives $10,000. This will be determined by the judging committee based on their assessment of the quality of the business plans.
