On Sunday, February 17, 10:00 AM, Rev. Michael Franch will deliver a sermon entitled “Brothers Killing Brothers: 150th Anniversary of the Civil War” to the Unitarian Universalists of the Chester River, 914 Gateway Dr., Chestertown, located in the Crestview subdivision. Just as one occasionally comes across unexploded and still dangerous Civil War munitions, the Civil War continues to be a sensitive and still live issue to many people. Nonetheless, we’re currently celebrating this event with tourism, re-enactments, a variety of commemorative produces, and a healthy dose of bad history and myth-making as well. How we look at the Civil War influences how we see things today, and what kind of future we might create. Our challenge is to look at it accurately and with clear vision.
Join for a service of reflection, discussion and celebration of Unitarian Universalist principles. Religious education for youngsters and childcare for infants and toddlers will be provided.
