A win for SEEC, Kent County’s Middle and High Schools, and the Sassafras River; the grant of approximately $50,000 will support the planting of nearly 8,000 trees over a 15 acre site in the Sassafras Natural Resources Management area at Turners Creek. The planted area will create a wildlife corridor across a main intersection of the property. The planting will be supported by middle and high school students.
The State and its partners made available $6 million to plant forested buffers with the goals of improving Chesapeake Bay water quality and creating opportunities for middle and high school students to engage in service learning and environmental literacy activities.
