The Foundation for the Kent County Public Library is pleased to announce that it has just made a grant of $20,000 to the Library.
In announcing the grant, Richard Kalter, Chairman of the Foundation, said the funds would be used by the Library for: (a) additional targeted youth programming, (b) purchasing new computers/printers for a portable computer classroom, and (c) the purchase of additional materials (books, DVD’s, audio- books, periodicals, electronic media). These are programs and materials that were not in the Library’s budget this year because of financial constraints.
Jackie Adams, the Library Director stated: “Part of the mission of the Kent County Public Library is to promote early literacy, lifelong learning and enrichment in a free and open environment. The Foundation’s grant helps us fulfill this mission. Moreover, it supports our efforts to provide improved services that will truly make a difference in the lives of many citizens of Kent County.”
Earlier in the year, the Foundation had provided funds to the Library to enable it to purchase Kindle electronic readers in honor of Richard Kent, a long time Kent County resident, who, in his will, had provided the Library with a major bequest.
Thanks to the generosity and support of those Kent County residents who contributed, the Foundation was able to make the current grant available to the Library.
The current Library Foundation Directors are: Richard Kalter (Chairman), Renee Bench (Vice-Chairman), Andrew Price (Secretary), Julia Bainbridge (Treasurer),
