On Sunday, November 11, 10:00 AM, Rev. Dr. David Newell will deliver a talk entitled “A Leap of Faith” to the Unitarian Universalists of the Chester River, 9145 Gateway Dr., Chestertown, located in the Crestview subdivision.
For some people, religious beliefs are based on personal experience, while for others they are the result of a reasoning process, and for still others they seem to be based on revelations of some sort. But what if genuine religious belief requires “a leap of faith” that is neither experiential, nor rational, nor revelational? What are “leaps of faith”? Are they essential to genuine religious belief? In this session we will explore the basis of our various faith commitments from the perspective of the ways in which they may be acquired.
