Have you ever wanted to build your own wooden boat but didn’t think you had the time, tools, or know-how? Well, here’s your chance! In partnership with Chesapeake Light Craft, Sultana Projects is excited to be offering “Family Boatbuilding” during our Downrigging Weekend Festival this October.
Work with the pros from Chesapeake Light Craft to build your own boat over the course of three days. Starting Friday October 26, you’ll assemble a Chesapeake Light Craft Eastport Pram, an 8-foot lapstrake Norwegian-style pram – one of the most popular sailing dinghy designs in the world. An energetic three days will see you through hull assembly, interior fitting, and much of the epoxy and fiberglass work. By Sunday, you will be ready to take your hull home for detail work, paint and varnish.
If there is a cooler time and place to build a boat than Downrigging Weekend, we can’t think of it!
