Maryland Wine Association’s second annual statewide celebration of local ingredients, local wine, and the restaurants and retailers who offer them kicked off June 8th, 2012. Restaurants and wine shops around Maryland hosted winemaker dinners, special wine flights, wine themed menus, tastings and promotions – all about Maryland Wine. New this year in Kent County is Crow Vineyard & Winery, www.crowfarmmd.com, which will open their Tasting Room on June 23rd with a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony by the Kent County Chamber of Commerce. Attendees of the Ribbon Cutting will have an opportunity to toast with the Vidal Sparkling White Wine and may purchase for $5.00 tastings of the Vidal Blanc and Rose’ and will be given a Crow Vineyard & Winery wine glass. Bottles and Cases will be available for sale to the public that day.
The opening of Crow Vineyard & Winery Tasting Room in Kennedyville, fills a gap that has existed in the Chesapeake Wine Trail www.marylandwine.com/wine-trails-interior/Chesapeake-Wine-Trail. Crow Vineyard & Winery coupled with Crow Farmstay B&B will provide tourist and visitors that travel the wine trail an opportunity to stay and shop in the quaint towns of Kent County.
Crow Farm has been a partner with the Imperial Hotel in Chestertown to provide local grass fed Angus Beef for the restaurant. The chef prepares dishes that are featured regular on the menu. To celebrate Maryland Wine Week, June 8 -17, the Imperial is featuring Crow Vineyard & Winery’s Rose’ by the glass or bottle. Joe Dolce notes that, “this medium dry Rose’ has a pale salmon “Oeil de Perdrix color. It shows pleasant floral components on the nose and has a well balanced acidity with subtle strawberry and stone fruit characters. A lovely first release wine for the Crows.”
The Tasting Room will be open each day 12 noon to 6 pm. For Tastings on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday please call in advance , 410-648-5687. For more information about Crow Vineyard & Winery see www.crowfarmmd.com or email [email protected].
