The Department of Natural Resources is currently working on streamlining hunting, fishing and off-road vehicle permit registration with the introduction of a new user-friendly online system that directly emails licenses to the customer, according to a WJZ 13 report.
Created by JMT Technology, of Sparks, the new system is called COMPASS, and will be accessible through the DNR’s website. While customers will naturally have the option to print out their new license once it has been emailed, DNR official Len Singel stated to WJZ that presenting it in electronic form on a mobile phone will also be recognized as a valid license.
If COMPASS catches on in Maryland, it could set the standard for DNR licensing procedures across the country.
COMPASS will be fully operational by March 23.
