WBAL-11 reports that the Maryland Senate passed the bill 27-19 during a vote held late Wednesday morning.
As written in the third draft, the bill would prohibit the driver of a car from smoking a tobacco product while a child younger than 8 is in the car. The bill would also penalize a driver who allows another person in the car to use tobacco products in the presence of a child.
