On Sunday, March 4, 10:00 AM, Dr. Gary Schiff will deliver a talk entitled “Bittersweet Homecomings” to the Unitarian Universalists of the Chester River, 914 Gateway Dr., Chestertown, located in the Crestview subdivision.
Dr. Schiff will speak on his recent trip to Poland, especially of his visit to the shtetl or town named Ostroveh in Poland where his family lived since the mid-1700s. What he found in this town and surrounding area, which included the infamous death camp of Treblinka, gave him new insight into his own family and background, the Jews and non-Jews of Poland, and the Holocaust and its implications.
Religious Education for youngsters, plus childcare for infants and toddlers, will be available during the service. Please call 410-778-3440 for more information.
