The 15 annual Bay to Ocean Writers Conference was held yesterday at Chesapeake College. Tickets were sold out a month in advance. 225 writers from around the region gathered to share inspiration and information. The event is sponsored by the Eastern Shore Writers’ Association, a nonprofit, all-volunteer organization.
Writers from every genre and age group were represented. From St. Michaels High School students to octogenarians, mystery writers to poets, the conference offered something for everyone. Workshops covered a wide range of content, from social networking and blogging basics, to manuscripts, style and character development. Memoir, romance, poetry, marketing, working with agents, self-publishing and e-book development were among topics covered by writers and teachers from around Maryland and Delmarva.
The Eastern Shore Writers Association supports writers and the literary arts across the Delmarva Peninsula. The group meets monthly, and publishes The Delmarva Review – an annual literary review that includes short fiction, poetry, creative nonfiction and short reviews. The Association welcomes new members and its meetings are open to the public. For more information, see the Eastern Shore Writers’ Association website.
